Our concept for this Bonia boutique depicts the journey of the brand’s founder to Bologna, Italy during the formative years as a leather apprentice before he founded the brand. His memories and experience sight-seeing the streets of this quiet city informed the soft organic language used throughout the space The sinuous forms and tactile materiality with a minimalist aesthetic act as a reflection of the fashion brand’s design philosophy.

The serene and calming interior features beige toned, undulating walls and ceiling clad in textured stucco that envelops the store and with soft ambient lighting flowing throughout, takes inspiration from the natural Italian countryside with its hills rivers, and large green fields. Designed to mimic nature and its organic environment, this creates a form of visual escapism through the world of Bonia for customers to experience whilst shopping.

A series of free standing furniture and display units in matte peach tones welcome customers as they enter through the fluted façade shopfront in terracotta. Seamless glass shelves cantilevered from the curving walls display the brand’s latest bags and small accessories.

Plush terracotta carpeted floors in sweeping curves informed by the Sillaro River Valley as customers transition into the secondary part of the store that houses the brand’s lifestyle collection. The founder’s visits to the beautiful lakes of the Bolognese Apennines are another source of inspiration for design elements within this area such as an organic shaped wall nook, rows of curving tiered shelving for footwear and an organic-shaped glass tables imbue the space with a sculptural sensibility while stainless steel mirror finished furniture and joinery detailing add sleek futuristic accents.

Arches that form the timepiece display and personalisation section are again another nod to the brand’s origin story that traces back to the historical arcades and porticoes of Bologna. Punctuating the monotone colour palette are Norwegian pink marble counters carefully positioned to contrast the rest of the muted color tones, adding a dash of femininity.
